With the insurgence of visual sharing sites, blogs and social media creative work is shared, viewed and recycled on an overwhelming scale. So unsurprisingly, just as trends exist in the world of fashion, trends have started to make an appearance in other disciplines too, photography, art, film, set design and product design.
When searching for inspiration, it becomes easy to reach for replication instead of innovation. In consequence of this, trends are being replicated and re-imagined at an alarming rate, therefore blurring the understanding of influence and imitation.
So ‘Not Another’ was born, a print magazine dedicated to the month’s most overused visual trends as decided by social media through a monthly hashtagged voting system. Currently ‘Not Another’ has 12 issues in the series, detailing the top stylistic trends of the past year.
